A question of balance
My new equation: Balance=CAPPS
Despite a natural predeliction towards Micawberism, I chose to engage, rather than drift. I also decided that the right equation [for me] depends on me striking an agile balance between five aspects of my life:
- Commercial - I need to sustain income
- Academic - I am a lifelong learner
- Professional - I want to contribute
- Personal - what was sometimes called “life” in the old equation
- Social - I can serve others
This equation is totally dynamic with changing emphasis on the constituents, according to changing circumstances. But, of course, it is just a personal abstraction of the future, not a guarantee of success.
